Syed Ahmad Abdul Hadi bin Syed Hussien,in his 40’s, is a humanitarian worker by profession and has been involved in the field since 2001.
Hadi, a native of Malaysia, is fluent with Bahasa Malaysia and English. He is also fluent in Bahasa Indonesia and able to understand a little bit of Arabic.
Hadi is a graduate from Instituto per Gli Studi Di Politica Internazionale (ISPI) in Milan, Italy with Advance Diploma in Management of Humanitarian Intervention. He is also a graduate from Aviation Career Academy in Lakeland, Florida, USA with a Diploma in Aeronautical Study.
Being involved in the humanitarian field, he has been posted to several countries including the Middle East and most of Asian countries. Experienced hostage situation, attended several humanitarian courses including Emergency & Post-Conflict Internal Displacement, Camp Coordination and Protection Training in Geneva, Swiss Development Cooperation Security Field Simulation Exercise, Essentials of Humanitarian Negotiation in Sri Lanka, Advance Security in the Field, Humanitarian Logistics, Homebuild Aircraft & Club Management in USA and Crew Resource Management.
He was posted as the Assistant Country Manager during the Tsunami disaster in Acheh for Yayasan Salam Malaysia, Project Manager and Head of Security & Logistics for the earthquake disaster in Iran, Team Leader for the Nias earthquake, Pakistan earthquake and Jogjakarta, Indonesia earthquake and the latest one as Logistics Manager in Gaza, not to mention the recent Padang earthquake. Most of these deployments were more than one month in duration.
As his profession requires a long-term exposure to several different diseases, he has received vaccination for Tetanus, Hepatitis A & B, Fluarix, Typhoid, Rabies and Japanese Encephalitis.
An avid photographer, he was a contributor for The Gaza Genocide: The World Community Must Act photo exhibition in Kuala Lumpur and London, under the Kuala Lumpur Foundation to Criminalise War and Malaysian Foreign Ministry and Iran: The Aftermath photo exhibition in Kuala Lumpur at the Islamic Arts Museum Malaysia.
He is also an experienced videographer.
He was involved with ABC Radio Australia as a contract freelance broadcast journalist for the KL ’98 Commonwealth Games and Ministry of Youth and Sports of Malaysia as the designated pilot and trainer in Aircraft Building and was part of the technical crew for Malaysian Experimental Aircraft Association.
He is also a HAM radio operator with the Call Sign 9W2EMA.
